Sony AI is seeking highly motivated, self-driven individuals with expertise in Robotics. Weʼre currently looking for smart, enthusiastic people who want to join our team of world renowned researchers as we push the boundaries applying AI in support of human creativity. In this role, the succesful candidate will contribute to our groundbreaking robotics flagship projects in Imaging&Sensing, and gastronomy.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead research programs in robotics especially control, reinforcement learning and computer vision in highly dynamic domains Implementation of proof of concept demonstrators on novel hardware Investigate new algorithms and/or hardware to solving fundamental Robotics and AI problems Write code to support research, usually in python and/or C++ Write reports and give presentations for internal audiences Write papers for, and give presentations at academic conferences Work closely with a team of AI researchers and programmers in the US, Switzerland and Japan on ambitious AI projects

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Background in engineering or computer science and robotics research (PhD or equivalent experience) with a track record of relevant academic publications, patents, and/or open source software
• 3 years of experience + PhD
• Experience working with robots and a knack for making things work
• Experience with dynamic robots, simulation, optimal control, computer vision, machine learning including reinforcement learning, and/or event-based cameras is a plus
• Experience with optical, or camera technology is a plus
• A track record of implementing software in C++ and Python
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills including the ability to articulate to both technical and non-technical audiences

Other Required Knowledge

• The ability to deliver on tight deadlines and adapt to evolving or changing requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and willingness in learning Japanese
